Trans Faith & Justice Weekend - Panel, Workshop, 15 Church Services including Rev. Dev leading
I have been asked to be a guest minister at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Kennebunk on Sunday, October 25th. This Church Service (along with 15 other Sunday Services), is part of a weekend of three engaging events focused on Trans Justice. Friday Oct 23 6:30PM - Panel Discussion "Living Both: Trans Journeys of Faith" at the Equality Community Center in Portland at 6:30pm. A panel discussion with trans/non-binary Mainers representing different faith traditions and reflecting on the intersection of their trans and spiritual/religious identities. No RSVP necessary!
Saturday Oct 24 10AM-3:30PM - Workshop "The Spiritual Work of Trans Liberation" with Zr. Alex Kapitan of Transforming Hearts Collective. Hosted at Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist Church in Portland, lunch is included. There are a limited number of travel scholarships available, too, for folks who could use support traveling to Portland from farther away as well as childcare stipends for those whose attendance would be made possible by childcare support. Weekend Organizing Context: Pink Haven ME, a group organizing for trans mutual aid in Maine, received a generous grant from the Unitarian Universalist Funding Program to offer an educational opportunity to advance the capacity of Maine faith communities and secular partners in our support for trans justice in and beyond our congregations. This weekend was originally chosen to take advantage of the final weekend before the election, when Mainers were to vote on an anti-trans citizen initiative focused on transgender athletes. Though the initiative was removed from the ballot due to insufficient signatures, we have the opportunity to get ahead on educating ourselves and getting organized before we have another ballot measure to fight. We hope you’ll join us!

LOVE is the Point.
Join people of all faiths (and no faith at all-all are welcome) for an event to shine light on the love and community support in Greater Portland and throughout the state of Maine for all those who feel that their lives, safety and rights are oppressed, targeted or at risk in the hands of right-wing politics, white supremacist ideas or christian nationalist ideologies. We will gather at the same time as the planned Turning Point USA event to offer a safe and welcoming space, and a reminder that Maine is a place that embraces all of its residents and their many gifts.
We will gather for music from amazing local musicians, as well as statements of support based in faith and beyond. This is a community event based in love, acceptance and welcoming - standing in solidarity and support for all our siblings.

Have complicated feelings about “Thanksgiving?” You’re not alone.
This year, instead of feeling uncomfortable “celebrating” a holiday that shouldn’t be a holiday at all, or wondering how to honor our history while also spending time with loved ones, do something different. On the Sunday prior to “Thanksgiving,” join us for a workshop to confront the impacts White Supremacy Culture & Colonialism have had on Native People as well as White People - yes both. From there, we’ll have a better sense of how to move forward with being more connected to our country’s past and our present on Thanksgiving and the days that follow.

A community gathering and screening of “Come See Me in the Good Light,” the documentary following Andrea Gibson and their spouse Megan Falley as they navigated Andrea’s terminal cancer diagnosis. All proceeds from the screening will go to Maine Trans.net.
Andrea Gibson is a gift to us all: a clear and poignant voice of our generation, a queer role model and an embracer of the full, authentic human condition.
It just feels right to watch this and honor this incredible soul and the journey this couple has navigated together by being in community.

In Gatherings, I act as a connector, a community builder, a facilitator, and a safe container for others to connect, heal, learn and grow.
I see you. I can see who you really are, in your wholeness. Your gifts, your strengths, your potential, your struggles and your healing.
I’m intuitive. I pick up on things that you can’t see about yourself or a situation. This naturally comes into all of my work and facilitation.
I’m empathetic. I hold you, your feelings and your experiences compassionately and as part of a sacred journey.
I’m accepting. I believe that every person’s identity, beliefs, experiences and lives are valid and valuable. However, I do not accept beliefs or behaviors that impose harm, exclusion or division upon others.
I value safety, structure and vulnerability. As a facilitator/host, it is very important to me to create a safe container for people to connect and explore deeply. Creating and holding that sacred space is one of my strengths.
