Hi, I’m Devin

(Rev. Dev / Rev. Devin Green)

I am a connector, a seeker, an adventurer, a skier, an ocean swimmer, a dog mom, and a hugger, amongst other things.

I am also an interspiritual/interfaith minister, community builder, intuitive coach, transformative mediator, ritualist, and supporter of people who want to live more connected.

I am driven by my core values which are connection, communication, authenticity and intentionality.

What I Believe

Here are a few of my core beliefs:

  • We are all spiritual beings having a human experience.

  • We are connected to a spiritual energy source that emanates unconditional Love stronger than anything we could ever imagine.

  • We are all inherently worthy, whole, lovable and loved - you do not need to do anything, be a certain way, believe a certain thing, practice in a specific way or change yourself in any way to deserve and belong and to be inherently, wholly loved.

  • Our purpose is to remember and open up to the truth that we are innately and inherently connected and loved, and to be and emanate that connection and love.

  • Spiritual truth is experienced rather than learned, taught or understood. It is in our personal experiences of seeing, hearing, sensing, feeling, knowing, connecting with and being guided and loved by a Spiritual Source that we find spiritual connection.

  • Spiritual Connection can be experienced in religion but religion is just one of many ways to spiritually connect.

  • The true teachings of all religions are based in the same fundamental truths. NOTE: this is a basic definition of “interspiritual” and I believe those true foundational teachings are roughly what I have outlined above

  • Any religious or spiritual teaching that is harmful, exclusionary or based in the requirement that people BE a certain way or DO a certain thing in order to be loved, accepted or “saved” (I do not believe we need to be saved) is not spiritual truth but rather human influence superimposed onto spiritual teachings.

  • There is incredible value in connecting with and learning from others about their personal and mystical experience, their spiritual beliefs and practices (including all faith backgrounds). And as one collective society, our faiths and beliefs are meant to be a point of connection, not disconnection.

Most of all, I believe in living The Connected Way™. You can learn more about what that means here.

My beliefs, practices and teachings come from my own experiences, the personal recounting of others’ mystical experiences, as well as many different faith traditions and spiritual teachings. I am personally most drawn to Near Death & Mystical Experiences, Quantum physics, Eastern teachings, Newer-Age religions, as well as Earth-based and Indigenous cultures and traditions.

As an Interspiritual & Interfaith Minister, I am committed to supporting anyone and everyone. Those who find me often consider themselves “spiritual but not religious” or “connection-oriented” (even if they don’t know that yet). I will support and work with anyone, with the exception of those married to practices, structures or beliefs that are harmful, exclusionary or fear-based. In fact, I am passionate about helping people to heal from those beliefs, communities and experiences.

A “Quick” Backstory

You can read the below story and/or watch the video, which covers the backstory and how I came to living a more Connected life.

I spent basically the first three decades of my life over-achieving, driven to “succeed” in academics, athletics, extracurriculars and eventually my career. After college, I worked for 10 years in marketing, advertising and brand strategy. I was “successful” - I rapidly ascended the ladder, landed and maintained huge client relationships, managed teams, drove change, and built businesses. Despite the fact that I “successful,” I experienced a friction that I couldn’t understand – I was unhappy, incredibly stressed, and I just felt “off.” I tried fixing it by changing my external circumstances (moved, got a new job, left a relationship), but it just kept getting worse, like putting a bandaid on a gaping wound.

It eventually got bad enough, and I had a moment of “breakthrough” (which let’s be honest, looked a lot more like a breakdown). For the first time in my life, I surrendered. And the result was an unexpected year-long soul search. I saw that I had spent my life to that point being who I was supposed to be, what I thought “success” looked like, what others/society/culture expected and wanted me to be. But it wasn’t my version of success. It wasn’t my life. I wasn’t living as myself and I wasn’t living from what actually mattered to me. I had to find those answers.

And I did.

What mattered to me was not money and career success in a hierarchical system. What mattered to me was people. Connection. What lit me up most was connecting deeply with others and supporting them on their own journeys. And as that became clear, the next steps showed up (in the weirdest ways that I can only see as divine guidance in some form).

HELPING OTHERS

In 2011, I went through coach training with Martha Beck, honing the skills I had had my whole life but hadn’t recognized as my calling.

In early 2013, I moved to Portland, Maine and began a full-time coaching and consulting practice, Fogdog Coaching & Consulting (“fogdog” means a bright point of clarity in the fog).

Over the years, I continued my own personal search for healing and meaning and throughout time, spirituality became more and more a part of my path, my own healing and the healing work I was doing with clients. I was having my own spiritual experiences, learning about other people’s spiritual experiences, and learning about religious overlaps and spiritual teachings that transcended the confines of religion. The more I learned, the more curious I was…

I have always been upset about the harm religion can cause, but learning about the history and overlaps of religions got me really curious about dispelling the harmful teachings and practices in these faiths. I wanted to know more. And eventually this led me to One Spirit Learning Alliance.

I went through their two-year Interfaith/Interspiritual Seminary. In June of 2022, I was ordained.

Each day now, I hope to live a life more connected. It doesn’t always happen, but my practice is to always choose and reorient to connection. And I commit to sharing what I learn with others and helping them on their journeys so that we move individually and collectively towards connection and balance. You can learn more about how I help others here.

The Connected Way™ first showed itself to me in early 2018.

I knew intuitively that I wanted to be addressing more spiritual concepts and Fogdog didn’t quite feel like the right container. No term or title felt right and then it just showed up - a divine gift: “The Connected Way.” It took time for it to shape into what it is now, and humbly accept the gift and responsibility of holding and tending to this container.

In addition to being my passion and purpose, The Connected Way™ is a movement with potential for global change and a way of life.

A Note about Privilege:

I recognize the privilege I have, and specifically as a white woman who grew up in the upper middle class in the United States, in a family that celebrated christian holidays (I grew up Unitarian Universalist). I continue to learn about privilege and the impacts of white culture, white supremacy, christian supremacy, colonialism and more.

I believe Disconnection and individualism is everywhere, but it may show up especially in people with privilege becuase it’s what we’ve been taught and is sustaining the system of disconnection. The impacts of people in positions of power being disconnected have a larger impact on the entire system. And it may be harder for them to unwind from the systems of disconnection. My hope is to continue the work personally of learning about and untangling from privilege, colonialism, individualism and disconnection. And I commit to sharing with you what I learn along the way in hopes that it will help others to untangle as well. This can be a daunting and uncomfortable path but you are not alone and I’d love to support you if you feel called to make change.

I would love to support you!

If my beliefs, story or ideas resonate with you, I hope you’ll follow along with The Connected Way™, and I’d also love to support you on your journey of Connection.
