LOVE is the Point. - Recording and Reflection

On May 15, 2026, along with 25 other religious and spiritual communities and organizations, The Connected Way™ (I) stewarded LOVE is the Point. - a two hour community event of Love, Solidarity and Support - into being.

In order to continue sharing the truth that there are so many supportive, loving and accepting faith communities and people in our community, the musicians, speakers and organizers have all agreed the recording of the event should be available to everyone.

Despite how much coverage polarizing extreme politics receive in the media, there are in fact MORE people and faith communities that believe ALL humans, regardless of origin, race, gender identity and gender expression, sexual orientation, or faith tradition are beloved and have equal and inherent worth. The 26 MultiFaith Congregations and Organizations, 8 speakers, 5 amazing local musicians, 350+ attendees who came together for this LOVING event, and the $2360 donated by attendees to local organizations are ALL evidence of that!

We want everyone in the Portland community, throughout Maine and beyond to know they're not alone. And we want everyone to feel the love emanating from the music, words and love shared at this this truly beautiful event. Here is the recording:

Organizing, speaking at and attending this event was an absolute gift for me. I feel so blessed to have found in the MultiFaith Organizing Group in Portland colleagues and now friends who all believe:

❤️ All humans, regardless of origin, race, gender identity and gender expression, sexual orientation, or faith tradition are beloved and have equal and inherent worth.
❤️ Immigrants and people of all races and backgrounds are welcome here and everywhere. A diverse community is a stronger community.
❤️ Trans and queer people are welcome here and everywhere, enriching and strengthening our communities.
❤️ Equal rights for women and reproductive rights are essential. Everyone has a right to make their own decisions about their own bodies.
❤️ Wealth disparities endanger democracy and cause harm to many, especially the unhoused and the un/underemployed who deserve dignity, security and support.
❤️ Gun safety is needed to protect our communities, make our schools safe, and lower the instances of suicide, gun violence and death.

It took me a while to find the words to describe how the event was. It was a feeling more than anything - being surrounded by loving people who want to love, support and be in solidarity with anyone who does not feel supported. It was a balm for my soul and I feel so blessed to have been part of this.

I truly hope this will bring hope, love, support and care to others so please share it widely! You can forward this post, or share the link to the video (https://tinyurl.com/loveisthepointvideo). And, you can reshare posts from my social media accounts if you'd prefer that (IG: @revdev_theconnectedway and on my Facebook Page).

For reference, LOVE is the Point. was a created by Faith and Spiritual Leaders local to the Portland, Maine area when they learned that with the support of Calvary Chapel, the Faith-Focused branch of Turning Point USA was bringing their “Make Heaven Crowded Tour” to the Portland Expo on May 15th. Turning Point USA, founded by Charlie Kirk, advocates for conservative politics on high school, college, and university campuses. Largely associated with Christian Nationalism, Turning Point USA presents itself as faith-based but its principles are in direct contradiction with the core tenets of many people, leaders and organizations of faith including the 26 organizations and communities that sponsored LOVE is the Point.

Thank you! May we always remember that LOVE is the Point.
